Workshop: Urban Forestry Made Easy
Clanton • January 29, 2008
The Alabama Urban Forestry Association has announced its first tree
care workshop for 2008 (click here for the registration form!). Please make plans to attend. It's a great way to keep current and network with others.

The one-day workshop is January 29th at the Alabama Power Watercourse
Building in Clanton. Registration is $25 (AUFA member) and $35 or $30
each if you come with a group of three or more (non-AUFA member).

Let’s Talk Trees workshop/Tuscaloosa
Here's the invitation from County Extension Coordinator Wayne Ford:

Here is the agenda of an upcoming workshop that you may be interested in attending.
The meeting is titled “Let’s Talk Trees” and will be held at the Tuscaloosa County
Extension Auditorium on Tuesday, June 26, 2007. The workshop will start at 8:00 a.m.
and last until approximately 3:45 p.m. It is sponsored by the Alabama Urban Forestry
Association in conjunction with the Alabama Cooperative Extension System.
The subject matter should be interesting to everyone from the average homeowner to
arborist and even consulting foresters. Points will be awarded for ISA, CFE’s, Pesticide
Education and even Master Gardener credit.

Please look over the agenda and plan on being with us on Tuesday, June 26th. Feel free
to get the word out and invite anyone you want to, just let us know by June 19th as we
need a number for lunch and break preparation. Here's more....

Let’s Talk Trees workshop
AUFA, in conjunction with the Alabama Cooperative Extension System, is proud to offer a workshop that offers something for anyone interested in trees and their care. Home owners, Master Gardeners and those in the industry are all welcomed to the Let’s Talk Trees workshop at the Environmental Training Center in the North Shelby Library on Tuesday, January 16, 2007, beginning at 8:30am and ending by 4:00pm that afternoon. Registration includes lunch and refreshments and the workshop is approved for pesticide points, CFE’s and ISA points. Space is limited and we need a head count for the meal, so please RSVP or pre-register by Tuesday, January 8th, 2007. See attachment for more details.

When Holly Thomas, a fifth-grader at Monte Sano Elementary School in Huntsville, set out working on her Arbor Day poster, she never imagined her efforts would culminate in personal praise from the governor of Alabama.

Thomas, along with two runners-up in the Alabama Arbor Day Poster Contest --- Blake Fountain of Crossville Elementary School and Sam Barnes of St. Paul’s Lutheran School in Cullman --- joined Governor Bob Riley on Wednesday, Feb. 3, for the annual Arbor Day tree planting on the Alabama Capitol grounds.
