The AUFA is partnering with Cawaco RC&D, the US Forest Service, the Alabama Cooperative Extension System, the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries and many associations and companies to plant trees in areas where they are needed and the citizens will benefit.
Photos of our 2/16/09 AUFA workday appear below.
Next week, as part of Arbor Week, 15 classes of Leeds 3rd, 4th and 5th graders will help the professionals and dignitaries to plant container and bareroot trees. Funding for the project comes from the US Forest Service's "More-Kids-in-the Woods" and Cawaco RC&D Grants and local contributions.
Leeds is the home, in some folks' histories, of John Henry, the "Steel Driving Man." John may have won the race against the steam drill, but he would never have kept up with "Lee and the Dingo!"
We really appreciate the help of Landscape Workshop, Advanced Mower and all our industry partners for making this great year-long project a success.
