Alabama Urban Forestry Associations
18th Annual Convention - 2002
Wildland Urban Interface
As populations and urbanization expand in the South, human influences on our forests are increasing. Over the past few years, the topic of Wildland Urban Interface has become one of the most important emerging resource issues facing Alabamas communities. Critical interface issues include fire management, watershed protection, wildlife conservation, biodiversity and land use planning and policy.
Mark your calendars and attend the Alabama Urban Forestry Associations 18th Annual Convention, to be held November 6-8, 2002 at The Lodge and Conference Center at Grand National in Opelika. The convention will heighten awareness and provide information about wildland-urban interface issues for professional arborists, natural resource managers, policy makers, developers and community leaders. Participants will be introduced to cutting edge technology and other resources available to make science based resource decisions.
Directions to the conference: From I-85 take the Hwy 280 exit at Opelika (Exit #58). Go West on Hwy 280 to Lee County 97 (Grand National Parkway) and travel 2.5 miles to Sunbelt Parkway. Look for Robert Trent Jones sign. Turn right onto Sunbelt Pkwy and follow signs to The Lodge and Conference Center.
